This first example is a Lid for a Sump in a Commercial Ice Machine. It is milled from 1/2"-thick White Duro-Tek. It is shown upside-down. The lip around the outside edge fits over the sump tank. The pieces with the round holes fit around components in the machine and join each other with a lap joint.

This next example is cut from 3/16"-thick Aluminum. This is the dash plate for a speedboat manufactured by Initial Marine. The second photo shows a finished boat with a different dash.
That dash plate was pretty simple, but this about as basic as it gets! This disk was cut from 1/8"-thick Acrylic. It looks pretty plain until you see what the artist did with a few of them as well as with a few square ones.
